This past month, LET'S GO's students in the Lakeland Elementary/Middle Maryland Science Olympiad (MSO) team participated in the Baltimore City Regional Tournament at Morgan State University! We are incredibly proud of our students, and recognize their hard work and accomplishments!
On March 7th, Morgan State hosted the Maryland Science Olympiad Baltimore City Regional Tournament, with a grand total of 21 Middle School Teams from across the city at the event. They were divided into 2 leagues for the medals and awards; 'Einstein' for experienced teams or 'Newton' for rookies. Lakeland students were apart of the Einstein league.
Our students at Lakeland placed in 12 of the 20 events at the Regional, the highest of which was 2nd place in the Machines B division event. In this event, teams complete a written test on machine concepts and construct devices prior to the tournament to determine the mass ratios.

Lakeland managed to place 10th overall at the Regional, and will be advancing to State Championships this year. Go Lions!
Mark your calendars for the State Tournament on April 11th from 9am-5pm. This event will be held at Johns Hopkins University - Sponsored by the JHU Center for Educational Outreach. We hope you decided to join us, and help LET'S GO cheer on our amazingly bright youth from Lakeland Elementary/Middle this spring!
